Diamonds are traded by weight. Value per carat increases with size.
EXAMPLE: A ½ carat stone is not half the value of a 1.00 carat. A ½ CT H/VS might cost $1000, but a 1.00 CT H/VS might cost $5,000.*
Larger diamonds demand higher per carat prices, rounds tend to be the most expensive shape. (with some exceptions)
